Dear Friends of Esperance,

Mid March Wine Offer
Here is a six bottle mixer that is as welcome as the changing season ahead. The curtain has already been lifted by the time change, shining a bit more light into our days. Now you can take that extra light and refract it through your glass of wine to magnify the pleasure. We have selected three white and three reds in this mix to bring you a delicious mix.

Meriggio Chardonnay/Viognier 2009. This wine is from Sicily's Le Terre del Gattopardo (we suggest reading the namesake novel Il Gattopardo or easier yet watch the movie The Leopard starring Burt Lancaster). The wine marries two grape varieties with deft and aplomb. Like a great marriage, each grape personality exists, but the line is blurred by cohabitation and one cannot tell when notes from one variety dominate over the other, but you can't help notice the shift and it is intriguing. $19/btl

Qupe Bien Nacido Cuvee Chardonnay/Viognier 2010. When choosing the Meriggio, the balance of the two grape white wine was so compelling that we chose to include a California wine of similar proportion. This wine is from Bob Lindquist of Santa Maria California. While it portrays the harmony of the two grapes well, it also showcases the sunny disposition of California produce with luscious ripe and juicy peaches, orange and catalpa blossom notes and marzipan like almond accents. $21/btl

Bourgogne Deux Montille 2008. We thought this wine had great potential when assessing a few years ago. Since then we've had the opportunity to taste it next to three subsequent vintages of White Burgundy and it never fails to delight. All the textural appeal of Chardonnay without the over oaked and over ripeness of the common Chardonnay available widely. This wine is laden with bespoke elegance and is nicely structured to continue to please. $30/btl

Vietti Dolcetto D'Alba 2011. Our friend Luca Currado makes this wine in the charming hill town of Castiglione Faletto facing the hills of Barolo in Piedmont. This wine has become a go to wine for us in most vintages as it displays a beautiful ruby color that is saturated through the wine. Aromas of juicy red plum, cedar, vanilla and pie baking spices make for mouth watering prior to the first sip which confirms the aromas with an unctuous mouthfeel in such a value wine. $22/btl

Gurgo Nero D'Avola 2010. A Sicilia red wine made from the Nero d'avola grape, it packs a lot of dark red, almost black color and dark red fruit flavors to match with a nice warming finish that will make you fire up your grill and start thinking about the warmer climate to come. $15/btl

Sicilia from Barbanera 2011. This wine is a Sicilian entry from the Tuscan winery. The wine is based on Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot. We have featured it twice prior to this and it still is a winner. $12/btl

A six pack of this mix is on offer for $100+tax reflecting a $19 discount! Call it our March Madness.
